essEnce5 - Distributing essEnce5 and E85 (distributers / service stations)
You can now distribute petrol containing 5% bioethanol. What are the advantages?
· You help reduce CO2 emissions (-3.5%).
· You can implement a simple, efficient, environment-friendly solution without any costly installations.
· You reduce your consumption of crude oil (1 litre of bioethanol from wood replaces 1 litre of crude oil).
· You use renewable fuel produced from waste.
· You vary your sources of supply.
· Alcosuisse offers you bioethanol at a very attractive price (generally cheaper than petrol) because the ethanol fuel it sells today is already tax exempt.
· You don’t have to change your distribution system (you only need to drain the tank first).
· Distributors of service station equipment guarantee that their material is compatible with bioethanol petrol (up to 10% bioethanol).
· You don’t risk anything because bioethanol petrol produced from wastes (ethanol supplied by Alcosuisse), and sustainably produced bioethanol petrol, qualify for tax exemption under the new Law on mineral oil taxation (mid-2008). Moreover, you can go back on my decision at any time, at no cost, and without the need for any particular measures.
· Alcosuisse offers you services geared to your situation (supply of ethanol, supply of bioethanol petrol, choice of petrol supplier, etc.)
Adapting service stations for the distribution of E85
The following operations are required to adapt service stations to E85:
· tanks: inspect and check equipment compatibility
· piping link between storage tank and petrol pump: in case of underground piping incompatibility (e.g. galvanised pipes), spray the inside with a special layer of epoxy resin
· petrol pumps: follow the recommendations for essEnces5
The following points should also be borne in mind:
· in case of incompatibility of material or equipment, replace the pump, flowmeter, internal piping and incompatible gaskets
· change the petrol pump filters (recommended mesh: 10 m)
· recalibrate the measurement systems
· indicate the type of fuel
Furthermore, because E85 is more flammable, a standard anti-flammability/explosion prevention system must be installed.
Some manufacturers require the petrol pump to be changed, while others suggest using the existing pump as long as possible (without the need for anything except recalibrating and installing explosion prevention systems).
