Besides the advantages described earlier, there are several other points in favour of Swiss ethanol production based partly on domestic feedstocks:

• significantly reduces CO₂ emissions and the greenhouse effect in the short-term (Kyoto Protocol, and SuisseEnergie's goals in the transport sector)
• helps secure Switzerland’s energy supplies by guaranteeing availability on the market and reducing dependence on oil
• provides greater price stability than the international market
• in the longer term, it offers addition earning opportunities for farmers
• enables the development of new technologies in Switzerland (renewable energy)
• can be produced in decentralised regions
• combats greenhouse gases by taking measures in Switzerland
• increases acceptance of domestic biofuels (start-up phase)
• establishes tools for sustainable development of biofuels, thereby setting a good example.
